Hwy 1 Reconstruction Near Babbitt & Ely

Beginning Monday, Nov. 28, Hwy 1 will close for 20 to 25 days and motorists will be detoured (see detour map) while crews remove muck from an area with poor soils. Hwy 1 will reopen shortly before December 25.

Motorists will be allowed access on a gravel surface to Forest Road 377 and Forest Road 553, but should expect delays
Periodic lane closures controlled by flaggers
Work on the project will resume in early-April 2012
