Court allows AT&T cell tower near BWCA

Reversing a lower court, the Minnesota Court of Appeals says ATT can build a 450-foot cellphone tower with flashing lights that would be visible within parts of the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness.

Mellesmoen Family Spaghetti Benefit

A spaghetti benefit for Mike, Jeanette, Abby and Kayla Mellesmoen of Embarrass will be held on Sat. May 19th at the Timber Hall in Embarrass from 3-7 pm. The Mellesmoens lost their home to a fire early Friday (May 4th) morning. Abby is in the 8th grade and Kayla is in 5th grade. The entire family is very active on the swim team, basketball, band and the hoop club for NE Range. Suggested donations for the dinner is $5/adult and $3/kids, 12 and under. Take-outs will be available and a raffle will also be available. Please come and support this great family!

If it is not possible for you to make it to the benefit, donations for the family may also be sent to the Embarrass Credit Union. Thank you in advance!

Babbitt Business District Reconstruction

There is good news today in Babbitt, Minnesota. Building has commenced on a new Zup's building to replace the one lost in a fire late last September of 2011. Reconstruction has continued in the meantime on a portion of the old building which was able to be saved. This is a big plus for the citizens of this area and things should be looking much different by the time spring rolls around.
